A major benefit of receiving orthodontic treatment in childhood is that it's possible to take full advantage of a child’s own natural growth process to treat or even prevent spacing issues we can detect already. Expanders are designed to help us do that.

The ideal age for a child to get an expander is when they’re young, around 7 to 8 years old. The palate is forming rapidly, so it’s easier to take advantage of this growth in a non-discomfort way.

How your teeth fit together can affect your oral health and function greatly.  Teeth that do not fit together properly (due to crowding, spacing, early loss of teeth, etc) are harder to clean, are at risk for tooth decay and periodontal disease, and can cause stress on the chewing muscles leading to headaches, TMJ issues, as well as neck, shoulder, and back pain. We are proud to offer both expanders for children as well as invisalign for adults to help alleviate all of this.
